Youth & Children Ministry

My vision for the Greater St John Baptist Church Youth Department fall in line with Pastor Perry's overall vision for the Church, by "Moving from Maintenance to Ministry" through Empowerment, Education, and Economics".

First, by seeking out dedicated and faithful counselors that are believers in Christ, the Vision, and their gift.

Second, by empowering the youth with the knowledge that they should be proud to be apart of God and the Mission of the Church to "Reconcile the World Back to God"

Third, educate the youth on what it takes to be saved, why we are baptized, what is means to be a Christian, what Baptist believe, basic church etiquette, and lastly but most importantly the Word of God.

Fourth, teach the youth about economics.
  1. Tithing, if we start while they are young it will be instilled, learned, automatic.
  2. Saving, pay yourself for your hard work.
  3. Debt, not buying unnecessarily or because someone else has it.
  4. Prioritize, learn what comes first and to be a good steward of what God has blessed you with.

I would like to see the youth department become a strong and powerful auxiliary in our Church. I would like to have the youth choir and junior deacons back to functioning on Youth Sunday. I really want to see Youth Sunday completely handled by the youth in all possible positions. I would like our meeting day to be on Friday night or Saturday, so that our time is not restricted.

These are just some of the ways I would like to build the Youth Department.

With the help of Pastor Perry, counselors, parents and church body, I know that we can succeed.
